Washington Monument

 

 

The project began with the series of four images that I captured of the Washington Monument in March 1980, of a jetliner appearing on the right and then apparently passing through the monument and then re-appearing on the left – a perhaps dark harbinger of events to come?

 

I have imbedded these four images in an array of photographs of the iconic obelisk at the center of the Mall in the Capitol of our nation. The album is brief – just 15 images. When the cherry blossoms appear in the Spring, the views around the Tidal Basin are spectacular. Yes, all these white males were slavers and considered women to be housemaids. But they wrote a wonderful document, and it has been updated periodically in the spirit in which it was originally written. At the moment, it seems not so much the document, but the carrying out and implementation that require attention.
